TAORC HISTORY

The establishment of Triskelion Alumni Organization (TAO), Riyadh Council, started in early 1997 by Brothers Roland Santillan (San Sebastian Coll.), Jess Cablao (PMI), Romy “Meong” Nazario (Union High School of Manila-PCU), Alan Lumacad (PPCHA), Ibrahim Managantal (MLQU), Zaldivar Maulana (N.U), Carmelo Modillas (WMSU Zamboanga) Naser Ibrahim (MLQU), Sulaiman Taher (UM), Alvin abdul (Univ. of Visayas, Cebu) Amen Panolong (U.M), Monsour Pacasum (MLQU) and Oscar Legaria ( MSU/Marawi ).

 However, due to some reasons the members did not grow on the grounds that perseverance towards disseminating the information to the public was not applied severely. In September 23, 1999 a meeting was arranged by Bro. Roland Santillan at Sea Shells Restaurant in Sulimania Area, Riyadh. This was attended by Brothers Willy Siose (U.E), Vic Inoferio (N.U), Benjie Ortiz (M.S Enverga Univ.), Rey Quilacio (U.E /Founding Batch San Sebastian College.), Romy Nazario, Nixon Ipia (Bicol Univ.), Danny Reanoga (RTU), Ricky Pizzaro (Adu) and a few brothers from King Faisal Hospital.

 Unfortunately, after the September 23 meeting no succeeding gatherings occurred. An enthusiastic group led by Brothers Willy Siose, Vic Inoferio, Benjie Ortiz and Rey Quilacio took the challenge to institute a stronger Tau Gamma Phi Alumni Organization in Riyadh. They started twice a month brotherhood bonding at the office of Brod. Romy Nazario at Malaz area in Riyadh. The number of the member slowly increases with the participation of more Triskelion brothers like Brods Danny Reanoga (RTU), Louie Montealegre (Lyceum Mla), Amen Panolong, Romy Alimario (San Sebastian Coll), Alan Lumacad, Willy Plumos (EAC),   Jeff Borja (Graceville TYM) and Ed Galvez (UNC-Bicol). In the middle part of the year 2000 this group intensifies their campaign in searching for more Triskelion Brothers.

 A regular weekly meeting was arranged at the residence of Brod. Benjie Ortiz at Nassim Area. The main objective is to plan an activity on how to get the attention of all TGP members in Riyadh. The announcement thru The Filipino channel and wearing of fratshirts in crowded places during weekend was agreed. Tremendous reaction was received when The Filipino Channel showed an announcement inviting all Triskelions in Saudi Arabia to join the organization. This was followed by a house to house visit on remote areas outside Riyadh proper to confirm and verify the legitimacy of the brod.  In a matter of weeks after the announcement, TAORC was able to confirm and register more than 25 Triskelions in the Riyadh area.

 The congregation conducted weekly meetings, and planned future events, that brought about the celebration of the 33rd TGP Anniversary in Saudi Arabia in 2001, the first ever in the Middle East. That occasion was so treasured by the group that it precipitated the election of the initial set of TAORC Officers. The first elected President was Brod Romy Nazario, VP-Membership-Bro. Vic Inoferio, VP-Internal-Bro. Willy Siose, Secretary-Bro. Benjie Ortiz, Treasurer- Bro. Rey Quilacio, Auditor- Bro. Abet Managantal, Master Triskelion-Bro. Jess Cablao and Brod Amen Panolong as the Adviser.

 On 04 October 2001, upon the creation of its By-Laws the Triskelion Alumni Organization-Riyadh Council (TAORC) was registered and recognized by the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh with 40 members. During the Induction of the first set of TAORC Officers on 06 December 2001, at the Philippine Embassy Chancery Hall, there were 62 registered members. Following the induction ceremony, communication among members improved extemporaneously, and generated more meetings, social gatherings and sports activities in Riyadh and other localities.

 On 28 November 2002, the second set of officers was elected and inducted into office. President Brod Willy Siose headed the new Council Officers. As a dedicated Triskelion, he devoted his efforts in cultivating the full cooperation of his fellow officers and members in maintaining unity.

 By virtue of his effective leadership, Brod Willy Siose was unanimously elected for a second and third term that preserved the theme of his term: Brotherhood, Unity & Community Service. Various activities and multiple fund raising events were organized to support diverse projects that included the following:

 1.      Distribution of basic necessities to run-away domestic helpers and laborers;

2.      Provision of tickets to stranded OFW’s;

3.      Participation in undertakings initiated by the Philippine Embassy;

4.      Donation of 10 boxes of relief goods to Leyte Disaster;

5.      Support to the family of a Triskelion, Brod Jess Cablao, who died in a car accident;

6.      Support to Brod Danny Reanoga, whose wife had a brain operation in Riyadh;

7.      Cash donation to Brod Cris Cogama who got terminated from his job;

8.      Promulgation and implementation of Sport festivals and other social activities for TAORC members and family;

9.      Provision of cell phone loads to a jailed Brod, Rodelio Lanuza;

10. Creation of a cooperative-style funding, instituted to help and assist Triskelions who require financial assistance;

 Although the Triskelion Alumni Organization-Riyadh Council did not flaunt its accomplishments and humanitarian endeavors, the Filipino community acknowledged its achievements and valuable assistance to OFW’s. As such, TAORC became one of the renowned community groups in Saudi Arabia and is proud to be among the selected organizations officially recognized by the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh.

 As of September 2003, the number of Triskelions registered in Riyadh reached over 120, and counting. This commendable development encouraged the formation of separate council in Saudi Arabia. On 27 July 2003, Brods. Benjie Ortiz, Bong Cortez (HAU/UE), Noel Parker (MIT)Nonong Albarillo (MIT), Monnet Monteralegre (Vergon), Justine Paalisbo (Medina Coll.) and  Dodong Tabanud ( Medina Coll.) initiated the creation of Eastern Province Council (EPC), followed by Western Province Council (WPC) headed by Brod.  Michael Balawag (MLQU) was established in  2001, and upon approval of recognition from TAORC, Tabouk Province Council (TPC) headed by Brod. Dennis Nuevo (T.U.P) as President and Brod. Victor Elep (Pili, Bicol) VP was established on   06 February 2009.

Accordingly on 12 May 2004, with the cooperation and assistance of TAORC Officers, particularly Brods Willy Siose, Benjie Ortiz, Emer Lingad (N.U) and Alberto Bauzon (FEU)  met Brod Dale Aguirre (Letran Coll) and Brod Al Biala (N.U) from The Kingdom of Bahrain served as a potent catalyst towards the formation of the Triskelion International-Kingdom of Bahrain (TIKOB) council. With the help of TIKOB the councils of Kuwait, Qatar, Dubai and other councils in the Middle East was established.
